I am thrilled to share my experience working with Mark, who joined us as a Business Systems Analyst supporting our HRIS systems for four months at the University of California, Irvine. As one of Orange County’s largest employers, the significance of this role was immense, and Mark truly rose to the occasion!

From day one, Mark impressed us with his ability to learn quickly and adapt, quickly becoming an invaluable member of our team. He dove right into support cases and, as he gained knowledge of our system design/configuration, policies, and procedures, we entrusted him with increasingly challenging problems including functional and system testing to support change requests for our new recruiting tool. Mark tackled every task with remarkable speed and accuracy, and his methodical approach to identifying root causes, paired with his creative, out-of-the-box thinking, made a tremendous difference. Thanks to his efforts, we saw our team’s response times cut in half—an incredible achievement!

Mark’s documentation skills showcased his expertise as a Business Systems Analyst. He has a unique talent for simplifying complex processes, especially during requirements gathering. I still remember his fantastic analogy comparing a company to a football game! This creative way of breaking down processes into stages, roles, and plays greatly enhanced our documentation efforts. We were so impressed that we tasked him with rewriting the user manual for our HRIS system, resulting in a fantastic resource for future training and organizational growth.

On a personal note, working with Mark was a joy! His very positive attitude and professional demeanor made collaboration effortless not just within my team but with HR leaders across campus and UCI Health. I found him to be exceptionally reliable—someone we could trust in a role that impacts every employee in our organization. I wholeheartedly recommend him for any Business Systems Analyst position he pursues. Whomever selects him for his next role will undoubtedly be in excellent hands! It’s unfortunate that due to unexpected cutbacks from government changes, we could not keep him on permanently.
