The requirements traceability matrix (RTM) ties business goals to specific functional requirements within a project, ensuring that those goals are met and that no functionality is added that is not related to a business goal. It also sets up a traceable scenario for each test case of each functional requirement and highlights the expected success criteria of each requirement.
